We use the same research process for every guide so readers can see how a recommendation was reached. Unless an article states that we tested a product ourselves, our guides are research-based and we do not claim hands-on testing.
What we look at
- Processor and graphics. CPU generation, core count, integrated or dedicated graphics and stated performance class.
- Memory and storage. RAM type and upgrade slots, SSD slots and expansion options.
- Ports and connectivity. USB, HDMI or DisplayPort outputs, Ethernet speed, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Cooling and noise. Cooler design, fanless options and what owners report about fan noise and temperatures.
- Operating system and support. Preinstalled system, driver support, BIOS updates and warranty.
- Value. What the product offers for its price tier. We do not show prices because they change often; check Amazon for current details.
Sources
We draw on manufacturer specification sheets and manuals, published reviews, buyer feedback and community discussion.
